LTTE leaders killed, says Sri Lankan Army

The 25 year old was between the Sri Lankan Army attained an aggressive phase in the last one year, with a clear advantage for the Sri Lankan Army.  Till few years back , LTTE i.e, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was seen as a formidable force which could create heavy damages on Sri Lankan Government forces.

But with the global fight against terrorism gaining ground in the last few years, LTTE was also getting side lined by US and Europe. That lead to lower fund flows and limited access to latest weapons and ammunitions by LTTE. This helped the Sri Lankan Army to go on the offensive, and they have officially announced the killing of all the top leaders of LTTE including Veluppillai Prabhakaran, and Pottu Amman.

Pakistan may regain Swat valley

The Swat valley of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan, was officially handed over by the Pakistani authorities to the Taleban few months back, which was strongly opposed by the US. Few weeks back, the US army officials have openly warned the Pakistani army to take direct action against Taleban, or face direct military intervention by US, inside Pakistan.
This has forced the Pakistani forces to launch massive offensive against the Taleban, and in two weeks time, the Pakistani Army has almost taken back the control of the Swat valley, from the Taleban forces.
What is strange is the number of Taleban fighters killed so far, is less than 2% of the declared Taleban force size. That raised lot of question on whether this episode is also an eye wash planned by the Pakistani army in connivance with the Taleban terrorist group, which it has nurtured and grown.

Sri Lanka says the war is over

Now, the Sri Lankan Army officials claim that the war against the LTTE group is over and there are no more threats from the rebel group. The Indian intelligence authorities are worried to some extent because of this development, as the LTTE might still work on killing top Indian politicians , especially the Gandhi Family.
So the intelligence machinery in India has been put on high alert both in Tamilnadu and New Delhi.

India set for a stable government

The long drawn political tussle in the world’s largest democracy, India, has come to an end today, with a clear mandate for the ruling Congress lead coalition. The Indian National Congress has won 66 more seats than what it had in the last general elections, had almost reduced the need for it to seek support from too many smaller parties.
The existing Congress coalition itself has won around 260 seats , which is just 13 seats short of the half way mark. The Congress party is confident of getting the support of independents to win the confidence vote when the parliament convenes next week.
But the problems confronting the government are really huge, in terms of burgeoning fiscal deficit and dwindling tax revenues, and rising unemployment.
