A significant drop is seen globally in the number of women dying due to pregnancy. After some decades the drop in pregnancies is seen only in the recent years. The research found this based on the reports they received. There are many cases of deaths happening due to pregnancy and child birth. The year 2008 saw about 342,900 deaths whereas the year 1980 had seen 526,300 deaths. The has been a wanted effort put by so many to reduce the intractable problem.

The maternal maternity has reduced due to many reasons which show the improvement in the lifestyle. Some of the reasons for the improvement may be due to the lower pregnancy rates, higher income, more education and skilled attendants. The skilled attendants are one of the main reasons to help women give birth. Much improvement is seen in many large countries like India and China.

The study was done more sophisticated and statistical method so as to avoid mistakes. The previous analysis showed more number of deaths around 535,900 which were conducted in 2005.The maternal deaths in 2008 were accounted to major six countries which had half of maternal deaths. The six countries were India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The major country which took efforts to reduce maternal deaths worldwide is India.
