US Auto sales in June 2009 down 27.7%

The US automobile industry continues to face tough times , with sales in June 2009 dropping by 27.7%. The drop was steeper in high end gas-guzzlers, while small cars saw a marginal decline.
Ford, which has stopped just short of filing for bankruptcy, saw its sales decline by 10.7%, while General Motors faced the steeper decline of 33%. The maximum hit was , in fact, taken by Chrysler, which saw its sales decline by a whopping 48%. The entire US auto industry saw its sales decline below 10 million units in June at 9.7 million units.
Sharp increase in crude oil prices in the last two months has hit the car industry very badly. People are using their high end cars sparingly, and they are also delaying the buying of new cars.
