China upsetting US through North Korea

China seems to be gaining ground in global politics slowly and steadily. It has been helping North Korea is getting nuclear capability, and has been the key link between North Korea and the US in the past decade.

And with reduced clout of Russia in global politics, post the cold war period, China is desperately looking for enhancing its role in global politics.  And the best way is to indirectly show its strength by creating unpalatable issues for US.

Kindling North Korea when the new US regime has taken charge, and when the US economy is going through a rough patch, could be the best time for China to enhance its role.  That is precisely what is happening now.

The US is now forced to seek the help of China to resolve the North Korea issue.

OPEC not to cut output

The middle east oil producing group, OPEC, has decided in their meeting at Vienna, to keep the crude oil output at current level, pinning their hopes on steady recovery in the crude oil prices.

The member countries are likely to stay happy at the decision, because they can try to extract more money for the oil they pump in. The crude oil prices have recovered to 60 dollars mark recently, from around 45 dollars in the last two months.

The OPEC is expecting the prices to recover to nearly 75 dollars, based on global economic recovery by the year end.  Even at 75 dollars a barrel, the prices would be still lower than what they were a year ago.

US existing home sales rises to 4.68 million

There is some good news and a ray of hope of economic recovery. The latest US existing home sales data shows a marginal increase to 4.68 million units, which is a positive growth to be recorded for the second time in the last three months.
The median home sales value has decreased by nearly 15% which spurred the resale growth rate. Even at the current rate, the left over homes will take at least 10 months to get cleared. Normally the home inventory levels used to be around 6 to 7 months , but due to the accelerated rate of foreclosures, the inventory has now gone up to 10 month levels.
