American express profits crash
The biggest US credit card company by purchases, American Express, reported a 37 drop in the second quarter profits, which was far below the analysts expectation. Also the increasing consumer defaults lead to the company withdrawing their annual forecast. The chief of the company said that the unemployment problem is the worst in twenty years and it is having a big negative impact on timely repayments by credit card users.
