World food crisis to worsen

All the key food prices have risen by anything between 50% to 200% over the last twelve months.  Supply of rice and wheat and even some pulses are expected to come down drastically in the coming months, as many of the producing countries like India, China , Vietnam are likely to ban or drastically reduce exports , in order to control their prices locally to fight inflation. This is expected to affect the developing countries and all the poor sections across countries.

US India Nuclear treaty unlikely to be finalised

Indo US nuclear cooperation treaty which was expected to bring excellent business to US nuclear technology companies while reducing the rapidly growing power shortfall in India is quite unlikely to be signed up in the coming months, owing to growing pressure from the Communist parties in India. The current coalition congress government is dependent on the Communist parties of india for the survival. Hence the treaty might have to wait till 2009 when a new goverment is formed in India.

Mobile mania in China and India

China continues to be the number one country in the world with over 530 million subscribers and it adds over 5 million subscribers every month. While India is far away at no 3 with over 230 million subscribers, it leads in monthly growth rates. India adds close to 10 million subscribers every month. With the Indian government providing lot of policy support for the growth of this industry, India is expected to grow agressively and reduce the gap with China over the next decade.
